YLA Programs

Youth Learning Academy, Inc.'s programs are derived from a need to improve academic performance and test scores for young people. We have developed these programs using the exciting industries of design, construction and motorsports to invigorate students. Young people from lower-income communities and minority groups are faced with barriers that impair their learning and academic success, and our mission is to teach them skills that will allow them to rise above any social or economic disadvantages they may face to serve as leaders in the community.

Qualifications

YLA provides student participants with an in-house certificate of completion. Each year, students receive awards from their respective high schools for academic achievement, improvement, attendance and other matters pertinent to the program.

Comprehensive Learning

YLA believes all youth can succeed if they are provided the proper guidance and support. We have partnered with social service agencies, schools, businesses, higher education institutions and others to provide comprehensive services to all program participants. Sometimes our young people face tough barriers; we believe the pipeline effectively removes these barriers so the student can continue success in school.

Teacher Workshops

YLA offers teacher and curriculum specialist workshops on how to implement or integrate the program into core subjects, twice a year. In addition, we provide ongoing support for the schools who have selected their teachers to run the program.

Staff

Youth Learning Academy staff and volunteers conduct in- and after-school programs and workshops in schools, community centers and with other non-profit agencies. Volunteers are recruited from the realm of automotive business, engineering and motorsports.
